Segregation of Duties / Sensitive Access and Cross-Platform SOD

Segregation of Duties/Sensitive Access and Cross-Platform SOD

Sensitive Access and segregation of duties are important concepts in cybersecurity that safeguard data integrity and confidentiality. SoD involves dividing responsibilities and permissions between different roles within an organization to prevent an individual from having too much control over a particular process or system. Alternatively, sensitive access refers to the rights granted to individuals who require access to sensitive data.

Cross-Platform Security is to prevent the same individual from having access to multiple systems or platforms. An individual who has access to both payroll and HR Systems might be able to manipulate employee data and commit fraud. The Cross-Platform SOD mitigates this risk by ensuring that employees have access to only the systems they need.

To implement effective SOD and sensitive Access controls, organizations need to establish clear policies and procedures for granting access to systems and data, as well as for monitoring and auditing access. They should also regularly review and update their access controls to ensure their effectiveness and appropriateness.
